Conducting Traffic Stops

Conducting traffic stops is a normal duty officers must partake in when on shift. Officers may pull over a vehicle for the following reasons.
Speeding: Exceeding the speed limit or driving too fast for the conditions.
Suspected DUI: Erratic driving patterns suggesting impairment by alcohol or drugs.
Vehicle Defects: Visible defects like broken lights, excessive smoke, or missing plates.
Registration Issues: Expired or invalid vehicle registration.
Traffic Violations: Running red lights, failure to stop at stop signs or unsafe lane changes.
Random Breath Tests: Routine checks for alcohol consumption.
Any other reason may be classified as an illegal traffic stop, which may result in punishment from the HR team.
Please follow the steps below for the correct way to conduct a traffic stop within AURP.
You must identify yourself as the vehicle driver at the start of each traffic stop.
Example
G'day! I'm Chief Commissioner XP with the Australian Police Force. Do you have any reason why you have been stopped today?
We also recommend you ask why they think they have been pulled over. This can result in a confession that can help later in the process.
